The time has finally arrived: Marathon is now available on Android! ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ’— ๐Ÿค–

Android support

Marathon is now available on Android. Say hello to our new friends!

Onboarding

New users will now be greeted with an onboarding flow! Here, you'll be able to add your name, avatar, bio, and pronouns before jumping right into the action.

Improvements & Fixes

  • Some series and episodes were missing image previews. We now have an empty icon to denote when!

  • We've switched to using action sheets when appropriate for bigger hit targets.

  • Emojis used to affect the line height of long text. We've fixed this so they fit right in!

  • Line charts should now show the correct number of stars for the average rating.

  • Sometimes you might've seen "Invalid Date" or "NaN%"โ€”well, no more! Those bugs have been squashed.

  • We misspelled Changelog ๐Ÿ˜… that has been corrected!

Say hello to our second major release of Marathon! We've rebuilt everything from the ground-up, from front to back, resulting in a faster and speedier app.

Rebuilt from the ground-up.

Marathon 2 has been rebuilt from the ground-up to be faster, speedier, and more stable. We also now support iOS 13 and above.

Refreshed design

We've taken to redesigning our series and episode pages, and adding a few finishing touches across the app.

Charts and graphs

Series and profile charts have gotten a makeover, and we've added a new line graph showing season and episode ratings over the course of a series.

Likes and comments

You can now leave likes and comments on both lists and reviews! (Don't worry, you can disable comments.)

Ratings and reviews

You can now rate and review seasons and episodes, and we've built a few new charts to go along with them. You can also now leave half-star ratings!

Notification center

We've added a new screen to manage all your notifications and mark them as read.

Improvements & Fixes

  • You can now add seasons and episodes to lists!

  • You can hide series from your Up Next view.

  • You can now report bugs and send feedback in-app.

  • You can now search across series, users, and lists at the same time.

  • We forgot the little icon on the Sign in with Apple button, whoops!

  • Your feeds should now load a bit faster!

  • We confused hours and days on your profile โ€” the time watched stat should now be correct!

  • We were taking up a lot of memory loading in images. We've made a few tweaks to prevent crashes.

  • We decided to hide the line chart under certain cases that made it unnecessary.

  • Likes and comments on lists now appear directly in your feed!

  • Season reviews were always displaying as S01. They should now accurately show the correct season number

  • Notifications were floating in the middle of your screen. Well, no more! They should now stay at the bottom.

  • We fixed an issue where you had to tap twice to enter into a search result or close the search page.

Removed

We've temporarily removed the following features while we do some more thinking on how they fit into the scope of Marathon v2!

  • Widgets are no longer available.

  • You can no longer sort or filter a list.

You can now filter and sort on custom lists and user's watchlist and watched series! Visit a user's profile to fade watched series, compare progress, and show what's in common with your added series

Improvements & Fixes

  • The CRT app icon has been visually updated to be a bit brighter!
  • Miscellaneous spacing and accessibility improvements.

Pins

You can now pin lists to your profile! ๐Ÿ“Œ Wear your favorites proudly, or display your list of the MCU shows in chronological order

Private activity

You can now mark your profile as private! ๐Ÿ”’ Enable this setting to hide your activity from others' Explore tab

Improvements & Fixes

  • Reduced the height of some text fields to make room for other form elements!

  • Resolved a bug where you couldn't create a list after updating your profile.

Your feed is now split in two! Check out "My Feed" to see activity from the folks you follow, or check out "Explore" to see what other people are up to!

Improvements & Fixes

  • We have a new app icon to celebrate 1.1.0! Check out "CRT" ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • Feed items are now grouped based on similarity, with a preference to highlighting reviews.

  • Related activities in the group are a bit smaller to help trim some scrolling distance.

  • Groups with more than three related activities are now collapsed, with an option to expand for more details!

We've reached our official 1.0.0 release! ๐ŸŽ‰

I wanted to take this moment to thank some people:

  • Thank you to all my friends who helped beta test this app on Testflight over the past few months.

  • Thank you to everyone at Upstatement for your support and listening to me constantly talk about this app.

  • Thank you to Cadence Seeger, the love of my life, for supporting me all these years. I couldn't have done it without you. ๐Ÿ’–

I hope you enjoy Marathon! It's been a project I've been working towards for nearly six (!) years, and I couldn't be more excited to see it out there in the world.

Now, on with your regularly scheduled changelog:

Improvements & Fixes

  • Accessibility. We've taken to performing a full accessibility audit on the app, and have remediated all issues we've found! For more information about our accessibiility practices, check out our Accessibility page.

  • Sharing. You can now share lists with your friends!

  • Review content is now more consistently displayed across the app.

  • Images in Visit buttons are now sized correctly.

  • Form fields are now consistently colored.

  • Fixes an issue with universal links.

  • Resolves an issue where spoilery content was shown inappropriately!

  • Previously, you had to add a series to your watchlist before marking any episodes or seasons as watched. You can now skip the first step and we'll automagically add it your watchlist for you!

  • The like button on review forms always looked enabled, so we fixed it to be more clear!

  • We noticed that the timestamp for items in the activity feed is often wrong โ€” we've gone ahead and fixed that issue!

  • Sometimes, users were experiencing duplicate activity feed items during times of high traffic. We've fixed this issue so duplicate items are no longer visible!
